JOHN Eustace hailed the hard work his team have put in to establish a solid run of form as the regular season draws to a close and in the wake of the draw against Spennymoor.
The 1-1 draw on Tuesday night came after victories over fellow play-off rivals Stockport and Brackley, as well as Blyth Spartans who went into the midweek games still harbouring hopes of a top seven finish.
It’s been a challenging schedule for the young squad from Aggborough but, with another point safely secured thanks to Elton Ngwatala’s stunning goal at the CNG Stadium in Harrogate, Eustace was rightly proud.
“We were competitive in every game and every game is difficult,” he said.
“We are on a nice run at the moment and hopefully that will continue, but the lads are working ever so hard and have had so many tough games in the last two or three weeks.
“To be unbeaten in those games is fantastic.”
Reflecting on Spennymoor, the gaffer’s emotions were mixed.
“It was a really tough game,” he added. “They are an excellent outfit and they made it really difficult for us – I thought a draw was a fair result.
“We played some good stuff at times but I was a bit disappointed with our concentration levels at times and that needs to improve because we got sloppy.
“But, as I say, they are an excellent team. I am sure they will be in the play-offs and whoever plays them, it will be a very tough game.”
