Harriers began their pre-season programme with a hard-working display against Shrewsbury Town on Wednesday.
A mixture of first-team players, Academy and U23 prospects and trialists fell to a 3-0 defeat to the League outfit, but there were plenty of positives to take from the day for the reds.
All the goals came in the first half for Town, with Fejiri Okenabirhie scoring inside the first minute, before his second and a strike from Abo Eisa in between had the scoring complete before the break.
Harriers did have their chances – Ashley Chambers lofted an effort over the bar towards the end of the first period, after Liam Truslove had also gone close.
Reiss Taylor-Randle forced a save from the goalkeeper early in the second half as the reds looked to reduce arrears, before Dan Bradley shot over the bar later on in the half with one of the day’s better Harriers chances.
Harriers play their first home pre-season friendly match against Aston Villa at Aggborough on Saturday.
