Neil MacFarlane applauded his team’s performance at York City, saying his players were “exceptional” at Bootham Crescent.

A fine 3-0 victory kept up the team’s sound start to the new campaign.

It was also another impressive win against tough opposition at a tough venue.

MacFarlane admitted that the group had taken exception to comments made by the hosts in the media in the build-up to the clash, and so was rightly delighted to see them emerge victorious – and decisively so.

“Through the whole 90 minutes, we were exceptional,” he said.

“With and without the ball, everything we had worked on came to fruition and it is a magnificent three points, to come here and win so comfortably.

“York are a massive football club at this level but we came here with a game plan.

“I think they showed a bit of naivety before the game in expressing to my players that they thought they were better than us both on the park and within the bench – and anybody who was here today could clearly see that, on that particular performance, they are nowhere near us at the moment.”

Goals from Ed Williams (2) and a strike from Joe Ironside sealed the win for Harriers who once again worked their socks off, continuing the trend with which they’ve started the campaign.

“I couldn’t be happier with the group,” added the manager.

“They’ve been unbelievable [and] they give me so much every single day. The effort levels are incredible and our quality is top level at the moment.”
