Boss hails “deserved” victory

Reaction from the 1-0 win over Curzon Ashton…

Harriers Manager, John Pemberton

MANAGER John Pemberton expressed his pride and admiration for his young squad after victory at Curzon Ashton, writes Elliot Ball.

The 1-0 win was decided by a single Ashley Chambers strike in the second half, after Harriers had dominated for almost the entire afternoon.

Boss Pemberton felt the three points were just reward for his charges, and was particularly pleased to have kept the door shut at the other end.

“I think we got what we deserved…we had twelve shots and managed to score a goal, which is really pleasing, and even more pleasing is getting a clean sheet.

“I thought we were magnificent all over the pitch in regard to off the ball and on the ball, we were able to create a lot of chances.

“The lads are learning all the time and I’m really pleased for them.”

Harriers next host Chester at Aggborough on Saturday (24th), and the gaffer is keen for the club’s supporters to stay right behind their side.

He added: “We just need people to get behind the players and behind the team.

“[On Saturday] the fans got behind the team from start to finish and that’s what we need.

“The fans gave us that support and, the players have given myself an unbelievable level of support.”
