HARRIERS’ pre-season continued with a 2-1 defeat at Mickleover.
Noah Rubio and Seb Thompson caused Sports all sorts of problems in the first half. The former saw an early attempt roll wide and a second saved well, while the latter’s shot was deflected into the arm of the goalkeeper.
Maliq Cadogan was also among the first half chances as he shot from 18 yards or so with an effort the custodian got down well to and divert from the target.
The opening stages of the second period were plenty busy, the hosts taking the lead after just over a minute as the ball was diverted beyond Palmer – Harriers quickly levelling through Ashley Hemmings’ close range finish that tidied away a Maz Kouhyar cross.
A scramble at a corner just three minutes after that had Mickleover 2-1 up, Kouhyar forcing a strong save around 90 seconds later as he struck firmly from the edge of the area.
Zak Brown was later played into the box and blazed over the target with venom, before Hemmings skewed an attempt wide of the far post. Harriers kept up the pressure in this spell with Samson Hewett and Kouhyar both going close.
In the final ten minutes, Hemmings was again thwarted by the goalkeeper and Amari Morgan-Smith was unable to get quite the right contact on a header from six yards.
Pre-season continues with a double header this coming midweek as Harriers travel to Tamworth (Tuesday) and AFC Telford (Wednesday), both kicking off at 7:45pm.
