Harriers Voice launched

Information on the launch of Harriers Voice…

Aggborough Stadium

Kidderminster Harriers are proud to announce the launch of Harriers Voice – a new initiative to connect the club with the views and needs of its supporters.

The club’s Board are pleased to have been able to introduce a number of innovative projects since taking ownership that have helped modernise the way the business operates. Even more important than this, however, is the club’s relationship with our loyal supporters.

Since the present Board assumed control at Aggborough there has been a commitment to improve transparency and openness, with a belief that actions also speak louder than words. As a result, everyone at the club is delighted to confirm the introduction of Harriers Voice, a campaign spearheaded by Non-Executive Director, Monica Shafaq.

Harriers Voice will help bridge any gap between Kidderminster Harriers FC and its loyal fan base, work hard to develop and improve diversity and equality, and ensure the club remains aligned to the high expectations of its fans. As part of Harriers Voice and in accordance with the Club’s Equality Policy (available to view on the club website), there will be a commitment to:

  • – Hold ‘Fans Forum’ style events as regularly as possible, (at least two per annum) hosted by the club Board as and when current COVID restrictions make this possible.
  • – Immediately launch a new Feedback e-mail address for fans to use, to offer their thoughts, opinions and questions about club matters.
  • – Feed the information received to this e-mail address back to supporters to keep them up to date on the issues being raised by fans, and actions the club have taken to address those issues as required.
  • – Set up a dedicated Diversity & Inclusion Committee that can regularly meet with Board members to discuss issues specifically related to equality.

Monica Shafaq commented: “As a Board we have talked about wanting to raise standards of communication, diversity and equality across all areas of the football club, and this is putting that commitment into action.

Inclusion and diversity is an issue deeply embedded in society… we want to be leaders and innovators in addressing it

“Inclusion and diversity is an issue deeply embedded in society, but at Kidderminster Harriers FC we want to be leaders and innovators in addressing it, and we believe this is a great first step.

“We want supporters of any age, gender, race, disability or background to feel comfortable not only visiting Aggborough Stadium to support the football team, but to also feel they can have their say and make a difference.”

On a related note, it was confirmed in October 2020 that KHIST will no longer have the responsibility of raising or providing financial support to the football club via money collected from our loyal fans. In this regard, we would remind all supporters that they can, should they choose to make a financial donation of any kind to support us, please do so directly to the football club.

Monica added: “We some time ago put behind us any expectation on KHIST to support the club financially and are exploring many different options as to how fans who want to support us in this way can do so.

“Given that money donated to KHIST to support the club has for a number of years not been used for that purpose, we can’t comment on how those funds are being held or used. That question has been asked of us as a Board and we can only suggest those are now questions best posed to KHIST directly.”

Supporters wishing to get in touch and raise any issues whatsoever, can contact voice@harriers.co.uk today.
