HARRIERS fell to defeat at the hands of a clinical Walsall side at Aggborough on Saturday, the League 2 side running out 5-0 winners.
For much of the first half there was very little to choose between the two sides. A visiting trialist curled an effort off target with the first chance of the day before Sterling, on 32 minutes, had the hosts’ first opening with a free-kick he drove over the bar.
The Saddlers got themselves well in front with a quick-fire double before the break, though, the impressive Osadebe taking the ball down and finishing from close range for his first, before bending in a very different second, a tremendous effort from fully 20 yards that left Simpson with no chance.
Two became three for Walsall just a couple of minutes after the restart as Trialist A played in Wilkinson who finished smartly, before Sterling again tested his aim with a free-kick wide.
The fourth, on 57 minutes, was a good finish from Kieran Phillips as he turned on a loose ball before firing it home, with Harriers rallying a little with the introduction of Morgan-Smith and White as they combined for the latter to fire wide. Walsall’s fifth saw Brendan Tiernan tidy away a dangerous cross.
Next up for Harriers at Aggborough is the visit of Manchester United XI on August 6th. Tickets must be purchased online in advance of the game – get yours today.
