RUSS Penn won’t be fretting about any Bank Holiday fatigue as Harriers head straight back into action with a home game against Chester on Monday.
Penn’s men came through a tough encounter with Southport on Saturday, earning a point from a 1-1 draw.
Chester, meanwhile, picked up a point of their own at home, hitting back very late to ensure they took a share of the spoils from a meeting with Gateshead.
With both sides back in action at Aggborough less than 48 hours later, there are sure to be plenty of aching muscles.
That’s not something the boss is worrying about, though – he’s insisted everyone is in the same boat as all of the National League North teams prepare to go back into battle.
“I don’t like the word rotation,” he said, at the idea of changing things around on Monday. “You have a squad for a reason.
“We’re in again on Sunday for a cool down and we need to get the legs back, we’ve got a long journey home.
“But you know what? Everyone else is playing as well, so there are no excuses from me and we’ll go at it again on Monday.”
Chester bring their own set of threats and challenges with them on Monday – something Penn is more than well aware of.
“Chester have some good players and good managers for the level,” he added.
“We know exactly what they’re about, we’ve watched them this season and we’ll be ready.”
Barring any issues from Saturday, Harriers will hope to have an otherwise fully-fit squad to choose from, with only Cliff Moyo a long-term injury absentee.
Amari Morgan-Smith remains suspended, but both Keith Lowe and Lewis Montrose featured at Southport having missed out against Blyth in our last hone game.
All home and Chester fans are reminded that there is no longer the facility to pay cash at the turnstiles at Aggborough.
You can still pay on the day of the game at the Ticket Office, but this incurs a £2 increase on our standard match day prices, so your best bet is to purchase in advance of the day if you can – as this will also potentially save you some queueing!
You can do so online via our ticketing platform or, if you need assistance, by calling 01562 823 931 during opening hours.
Again, it is still possible to buy your tickets at the Ticket Office (up to 15 minutes after kick-off), but you can’t pay cash at the turnstile.
Kick-off at Aggborough on Monday is at 3:00pm.
