HARRIERS endured a day to forget as their FA Cup run ended with a 4-1 thumping at Boston United

The hosts were 2-0 up after half an hour and three to the good with an hour played, any joy at Jaiden White’s first senior Harriers goal swiftly snuffed out by Boston’s fourth with ten to go.

Jordan Burrow had forced Luke Simpson into a sixth minute save to set the tone for Boston, who took the lead when a 12th minute corner was nodded home by Jake Wright.

Simspon denied the hosts a second with a save to keep out Ferguson on 14, but the second soon followed when Elliott kept his composure to power home a finish after the ball had ricocheted off Richards and into his path.

Harriers’ only real moment of the first half was with 37 on the clock, Austin cutting inside and firing low, hitting the bar via a deflection. Bajrami followed up with a powerful deflection, but home stopper Dewhurst parried the effort strongly.

The visitors initially looked bright after the break but it was always Boston looking brighter going forward. Gordon glanced over a header from a good position on 52 minutes and, seven later it was 3-0. Sub Elliott was given too much time and space to advance through the Harriers half, Simpson left exposed as Elliott rounded him and finished.

Eight after the hour, Harriers did have a goal back with one of few bright moments from the day. With a good forward move, Penny shot with a low effort that pinged off the post. Bodies clamoured to follow it up, with White finishing in off the bar as the ball nestled just in the net.

The Reds rallied again and might have had a penalty as Freemantle was seemingly fouled in the area, but Boston rounded off their comfortable afteroon with a fourth goal through Preston who fired in from inside the area after Harriers failed to clear a cross.

Boston march on and Harriers head out, but it’s now into the busy Christmas period with heads up and plenty to focus on.
