JIMMY O’Connor can’t wait for Harriers to pit their wits against Paul Holleran and Leamington at Aggborough on Tuesday – but insists it’ll be business as usual come kick off.
With the better part of 600 games in charge at the Brakes under his belt, Holleran is one of the most widely respected and admired gaffers in the game.
He’s a big favourite of Harriers boss Russ Penn and Aggborough assistant chief O’Connor, too.
They come head to head at Aggborough in Tuesday’s National League North clash, with Leamington in high spirits following an important win over Blyth Spartans on Saturday.
That ended a run of games without a victory for them, while Harriers will look to get back to winning ways following the weekend’s goalless draw with Gloucester.
O’Connor told our YouTube channel he’s full of respect for the man in the opposite dugout tonight – though he stressed it won’t stop the Reds from trying to get a result at his expense”
“It is always a tough game and the Manager, Paul, is fantastic with his recruitment,” he said.
“To get the level of success he’s had over a period of time is a testament to him.
“Me and Russ have got a lot of time for him but come Tuesday night, it’s the next game – we’ll look at what we believe are their strengths and weaknesses and try and exploit their weaknesses and limit their strengths!
“It is no different, unfortunately, and it’s a long slog [over] a season. If you’re going to be successful you have got to stick to your guns with certain things and certain things don’t change.
“We’ve also learned a lot from games like [Saturday] where maybe we have to be a little brighter, a little bit more inventive and braver at times.
“As long as the effort, application and endeavour is there, we can stand by that.”
Harriers go in to tonight’s game knowing that Nathan Cameron and Joe Foulkes have been back in training – Cameron making the bench for Saturday’s league tie.
Keziah Martin is due to resume training this week, too, following his injury at Kettering, but Tuesday is likely to come too soon for Ethan Freemantle (hamstring).
Harriers are without Marcus Dinanga after he was recalled by parent club Altrincham.
Harriers and Leamingon fans are reminded that there is no longer the facility to pay cash at the turnstiles at Aggborough.
You can still pay in person on the night of the game at the Ticket Office (including in cash), but this incurs a £2 increase on our standard match day prices, so your best bet is to purchase in advance of the day if you can – as this will also potentially save you some queueing!
You can do so online via our ticketing platform or, if you need assistance, by calling 01562 823 931 during opening hours.
Again, it is still possible to buy your tickets at the Ticket Office (up to 15 minutes after kick-off), but you can’t pay cash at the turnstile.
You can also order tonight’s match day programme online (to receive by post only) with copies also on sale around the ground and in the Club Shop.
Kick-off on Tuesday night is at 7:45pm
