NATHAN Cameron’s goal ensured Harriers were victorious on their return to National League North action at AFC Telford.
The defender netted in the later stages of the first half to wrap up a big three points – and another clean sheet – in front of a huge away following of more than 800 at the New Bucks Head.
Harriers were on the front foot from the off and went close through Amari Morgan-Smith on six minutes. The striker charged down a delayed kick from the goalkeeper and was almost rewarded as the ball rebounded off him and trickled just wide of the post.
Ashley Hemmings then went close either side of the half-hour mark; his rising shot flew over the bar before a corner delivery curled in and clipped the outside of the post.
The all-important moment of the day arrived on 38 minutes as Sterling’s free kick was nudged by Morgan-Smith into the path of Cameron who had the fun task of tapping home from just a few yards.
The second half saw more signs of life from Telford as an attacking force, but while Simpson made a solid save to deny the hosts from a header with just ten to go, his counterpart Griffiths was far busier.
He made two big saves around the hour mark. Hemmings found room in the area and shot, drawing a low save, with Griffiths quickly back on his feet to punch away Alex Penny who’d tried to fire the loose ball back into the net.
Morgan-Smith worked the ball to Montrose inside the area who was also thwarted by Griffiths, before the best save of his bunch game on 78 minutes when a deflected Bajrami shot looked to have him beat – only for a strong left palm to fly out and tip the ball over the bar.
