An update on supporter safety at Aggborough…

Kidderminster Harriers have handed out banning orders to five individuals following investigations into recent conduct at matches.
Whilst our high-profile matches against the likes of Reading and West Ham were well attended by supporters who got behind the team in the right way, the regrettable actions of a few did undermine the club’s good reputation. The club has since been working with an FA investigation into the matter.
We take the safety of all supporters at Aggborough extremely seriously and, as a result, have identified individuals involved in these incidents and informed them that their presence at the ground is no longer welcome – until the end of next season at the earliest.
Part of the letter sent to these individuals read:
“Not only were your actions in breach of ground regulations, they were extremely dangerous to yourself and also to fellow supporters [and] staff. Further to this they have risked bringing the club’s good name into disrepute and have instigated a formal investigation by the FA.
“Both the club and West Mercia Police take a hard stand against the bringing in and/or lighting of pyrotechnics within the ground very seriously. Therefore, you are subsequently banned from attending any games at the Aggborough Stadium with immediate effect until the end of the 2023/24 season.
“Should you enter or attempt to enter the stadium footprint… during this time then you will be required to leave immediately, and the ban extended to a lifetime ban.”
The Banning Orders have also been shared with local police as a continuation as our strengthened working relationship with them in recent months.
For the peace of mind of other supporters, we can confirm the following improvements have been made within that time:
- The installation of a new Safety and Security team at the Club.
- Upgraded CCTV which allows HD images to be viewed and downloaded for evidential purposes
- Increased crowd searching to help prevent banned articles from being brought into the ground including flares and alcohol etc.
We remind all those attending games at Aggborough that Kidderminster Harriers is a family club. Those not able to support the club and the team in the right way are not welcome. Those that do – please keep up the incredible backing. This is having an incredible impact.
