HARRIERS suffered just a fifth National League defeat of the term as they went down 2-1 at Farsley Celtic on Saturday.
In challenging conditions, the Reds never quite got to their fluid best against the struggling Celts, who were in front midway through the first half thanks to a superb first-time finish from Jimmy Spencer.
Harriers were almost two down seven minutes later when Digie’s shot struck the inside of the post, with a first visiting chance seeing Austin draw a reasonably routine save from the goalkeeper with half an hour gone.
As the first half edged into added time, the visitors were level. Morgan-Smith was fouled by keeper Trenerry, with Ashley Hemmings stepping up to do the honours from the spot to the delight of a sizable away contingent.
It was never a match saturated in chances and there were few moments of quality, evident perhaps by the fact it took the award of another penalty on 66 minutes – this time to Farsley – for the second half to get going. Hayhurst drilled the ball beyond Simpson after handball in the area.
Graves might’ve stretched the hosts’ lead further three minutes later only to be denied at close range by the Harriers stopper – the game then degenerated into a frantic affair with three red cards following.
Farsley boss Russ Wilcox was the first to go for booting the ball away, before his skipper Atkinson followed for two yellow cards. Having come on as a 70th minute sub, Joe Foulkes saw his afternoon cut short after just 15 minutes as he, too, gave away a cheap pair of bookings to earn an early shower.
