HARRIERS have bid a very fond farewell to popular player Cliff Moyo as the defender begins a new chapter in his life away from football.

Cliff made more than 50 appearances for Harriers having originally joined in 2020, going on to become Captain.

He battled back from injury in 2021/22 to feature in a handful of games before sadly falling to a similar injury at Chester over Easter. In the interim, his goal in the win against Southport at Aggborough was undoubtedly one of the moments of the season.

Moyo has weighed up his options carefully in the summer before deciding to move away from football and into the next stage of his career outside the game with his family.

This is one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make….” Cliff Moyo

“Cliff was absolutely fantastic for me and the club during his time here and he along with his family move on with the best wishes of every single person at the club,” Russ Penn commented.

“We stood by him last season and, as a club, had put something together to ensure he could stay with us while he recovered from injury again this season, but they have an exciting new start planned and I know he’ll succeed in whatever he does next.

“They will be welcome back at Aggborough at any time.”

Cliff himself explained: “This is one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make. After three years at this amazing club, it is time for me to venture out of football and on to a new career in life.

“It’s a big shame that two major injuries back-to-back have led me to this decision. However, for myself, my wife and kids, we decided it was for the best moving forward. I have honestly enjoyed every minute, being a player and a fan cheering on the boys.

“Thank you to all the Harriers fans who have supported myself and the boys throughout my journey. I would have liked a better song from the terraces, but beggars can’t be choosers!

“Most importantly, Thank you to the Gaffer, Jimmy, the Board and my team mates for the amazing memories.

“I’m happy I got the chance to sign off with a goal and end it on a positive. Good luck to the club, management team and the boys this season.”

All the best in all you do, Cliff and family!
