HARRIERS picked up a 5-1 pre-season friendly win at Hednesford Town as pre-season continued.

Harriers were ahead inside five minutes at Keys Park, Yusifu Ceesay’s excellent control on the edge of the area giving him the advantage as he kept his composure before finishing smartly.

The home side were almost level through Chay Tilt near the half-hour, but his curled shot was well handled by goalkeeper Tom Palmer.

Six minutes later, Ceesay almost doubled his tally but saw his effort bounce wide, with  Harriers eventually getting their second through Krystian Pearce on 41 minutes as he tucked home Nathan Lowe’s free kick.

Riley O’Sullivan was well teed up on 56 minutes and should’ve reduced the arrears for the hosts only to nudge wide, while Ashley Hemmings headed another effort off his own line soon after.

On the hour, superb fingertips from Jamie Emery denied former Harrier James McQuilkin as he took aim, with Ashley Hemmings at the other end forcing the Pitmen stopper into a good save with 75 played.

Moments later, Hemmings did find the net and it was courtesy of a sublime free kick from 20 yards plus, the goalkeeper given no chance as the ball nestled into the top corner.

With ten left on the clock, Harriers made it 4-0 – Trialist C pouncing on some indecision from the goalkeeper, stealing the ball and rolling it home. The fifth arrived as Hemmings turned provider, pouncing on another lose ball before feeding Zak Brown – his thunderous finish from an acute angle was never being stopped.

Hednesford did net in the final seconds as Brown inadvertently turned the ball beyond Emery.

Up next for Harriers in pre-season is the trip to Bromsgrove Sporting on Tuesday night, 7:45pm kick off.
