HARRIERS skipper Shane Byrne will be out of action due to a knee injury sustained in Saturday’s goalless draw with Woking.
The midfielder was injured in the final throws of the opening day draw at Aggborough, with scans revealing knee damage.
Further specialist assessment is to follow to determine the exact length of time Byrne will miss, but it is likely to be at least three months.
Boss Russ Penn said: “We’re gutted to lose Shane for such a long time, especially so early in the season.
“It’s a big blow for us, and obviously for the player as well.
“The medical team are working brilliantly to get us a clear picture as quickly as possible, but the early signs are that we’re looking around three months at least.
“We’ll know more soon, but Shane’s our Captain and a fantastic character who has already been back in and around the group.
“He’ll remain a big part of things while he recovers.”
