HARRIERS responded to Saturday’s defeat at Ebbsfleet with a point and clean sheet in a 0-0 draw against Maidenhead on Bank Holiday Monday.

Harriers had the clearest of the chances on the day, but they all came late on  during what was a frustrating afternoon in DY10.

Despite the frustration that filled much of the contest, Harriers arguably could’ve been ahead inside five minutes when Kieran Phillips shot inside the area – only a timely intervention from Maidenhead turning it aside for a corner.

As the two teams battled in a tense affair across midfield with precious little action in either penalty area to speak off, that was essentially the first and only chance of the half – although Lambert did pick up on a Leesley free kick and cross dangerously into the area on 42 minutes, custodian Craig Ross coming out to claim it.

Chances did finally start to come around the hour – a Maidenhead shot blocked inside the area before, on 63 minutes, Krystian Pearce planted a Joe Leesley corner wide of the target.

Four minutes later Caleb Richards went within inches of an opener. Lambert drove firmly at goal from the edge of the area, the ball falling loose to the full-back at the far post, only for the effort to crash wide.

Soon after, there was an opening at either end. Petit struck over for Maidenhead when he arguably had time to do better, before Richards struck a low drive into the arms of Ross at the other end.

The final chance of the few the game saw came with eleven minutes left of normal time. Substitute Ashley Hemmings set Lambert away at pace, the former Darlington man firing it low, Ross there to deny him with a good save.
