HARRIERS had to settle for a point against Rochdale after being pegged back to a 1-1 draw at Aggborough Stadium.
Joe Leesley had put The Reds in front in the first half in a game Harriers controlled for large parts without really forcing home that advantage.
Rochdale claimed a point inside the final 15 minutes through Ethan Ebanks-Landell.
Harriers had the ball in the area on 14 minutes thanks to a good delivery from Oxlade-Chamberlain, although Reiss McNally’s eventual effort lacked power.
The opening goal came with 17 played. Great determination from Lambert saw his skill rewarded as a deft cross landed on the boot of Joe Leesley who swept home his first of the campaign.
It was close to being 2-0 just moments later. Amari Morgan-Smith cut inside with power and shot from distance, only an outstanding diving stop from Louis Moulden preventing 2-0.
Dale registered there first chance with 22 on the clock when Gilmour struck. His effort could barely have been closer as it pulled just inches wide of the far corner.
Lambert struck over for the hosts before the break, but Caleb Richards should’ve made it 2-0 deep in added time at the end of the first half when his first time, far post finish pulled wide.
Moulden denied Richards five minutes into the second half before a volley from John, up from the back for Dale, blazed just wide. Ebanks-Landell had two bites of the cherry with his head for the visitors with just a quarter-hour to play; Dibble saving the first effort before, seconds later, another header sailed into the far corner.
In the sweltering conditions, both sides pushed forward in search of a winner. McDonagh’s good play set up Phillips just after the 90th minute only for his shot to be blocked, as it was minutes later when a covering challenge prevented him from netting one-on-one with Moulden.
Later still, sub Henderson thought he’d netted for Dale but his effort was ruled out for offside.
