HARRIERS fell to a 2-1 defeat at Eastleigh despite leading through Gerry McDonagh’s first goal of the season.

In a bright opening, Harriers were deservedly in front when Maguire dusted himself off after being fouled in the area and slammed a penalty into the back of the net.

Eastleigh were back level on 23 minutes when Paul McCallum headed home past Christian Dibble, before Dibble denied the same man a second with a good save five minutes later.

Christian Oxlade-Chamberlain skewed wide with a good Harriers chance on 31 minutes, but it was the home side who had the lead and a completed turnaround when McCallum again headed home unchallenged inside the area.

In the second half, Harriers had sights of goal when Krystian Pearce and sub Kieran Phillips both headed off target, while Oxlade-Chamberlain was again close when he shot from distance, his effort a comfortable enough gather for the keeper.

A great block inside the area with ten minutes to go denied Aidan Barlow what looked to be a certain goal from inside the area, and there was hope soon after that Joe Leesley might capitalise on that at the other end, though his effort curled over the bar.

Barlow went within inches of a third for Eastleigh in added time, but Harriers were able to clear the ball off the line.
