HARRIERS picked up a second Aggborough win in the space of a few days with a 1-0 victory over Brackley Town.
Just days after the 3-0 triumph over Radcliffe in DY10, the Saints were seen off courtesy of a 1-0 success that, at times, threatened to be a triumph by more than a single goal.
Always resolute and determined, Brackley forced Christian Dibble into an early save but, in truth, Morgan Roberts’ drive was all they had to show for their efforts in front of goal in the first 45.
Harriers on the other hand started to hit their stride at the 20 minute mark, Caleb Richards crossing low for Zak Brown to slide in and crash an effort wide; the perfect precursor to what was to follow seconds later when Richards this time supplied Hemmings who duly dispatched his second goal of the campaign.
Five minutes later it was almost two. As Hemmings saw his shot hit Jonny Maxted in goal and squirm into the path of Maliq Cadogan, the youngster shot firmly but was denied by a save as the goalkeeper recovered.
It was again close to being 2-0 just four minutes further along. Kouhyar and Hemmings combined superbly to sweep the ball upfield, Maxted a strong last line of defence as he prevented the hosts from doubling that advantage.
Up supporting the attack, Joe Foulkes saw his shot blocked on 41 minutes with Hemmings once again there to try and pounce, his rising effort from the edge of the area needing a strong intervention from Maxted to turn it over the bar.
Early after the restart their was a chance apiece for the sides; Cadogan was rolled in by Foulkes at a free kick and struck sweetly from 20 yards, the ball rising a little too high and sailing over the bar. At the other end two minutes later, Roberts lashed a shot over when trying to find the top corner with venom.
There were far fewer chances in the second half than the first as changes in personnel and system for both sides resulted in the tie closing up a little, but there was still a further brace of efforts for Hemmings, who flashed one across goal and, later, saw a shot comfortably taken by Maxted.
A flurry of substitutions and bookings disjointed things somewhat, but Harriers managed the game well to see things out for another important three points.
