A look back at Saturday’s Aggborough win….

HARRIERS kept up their recent momentum with a hard-fought 1-0 Aggborough win over Farsley Celtic on Saturday.

Reece Devine had the first Harriers chance of the day, taking a swing as a reworked corner was moved into his path, firing the ball over the target.

Ashley Hemmings did similar with an effort on target a minute later before Joe Foulkes, picking up on a quick corner routine, drilled a low shot towards the bottom corner that Farsley blocked well.

First half chances kept coming; Zak Brown unleased a firm drive from fully 25 yards that needed tipping around the post by Kieran Flavell, before chesting and volleying over with less than half an hour played.

A minute later, Devine drilled an effort into Flavell’s chest and Hemmings curled high over the target, before a driving run from Foulkes saw him surge up field before finding Devine whose shot wayward; Flavell then doing well to save low from Foulkes as relentless pressure continued to build.

On 52 minutes, a Hemmings corner was met with a bullet header by Morgan-Smith who saw his attempt smothered well by the busy Flavell, Kam Kandola’s follow-up clearly striking the arm of a Farsley player, but missed by match officials.

That mattered less seconds later. The ball was worked back to Hemmings who lofted a dizzying ball towards the far post that Flavell spilled, straight to the opportunistic Ben Beresford who swivelled quickly to chest it into the net for his first goal since returning from injury.

Morgan-Smith drilled over from distance soon after, before a rare Farsley chance saw Stephenson back-hell the ball into Dibble’s hands from barely two yards out.

With six left to play of normal time Caleb Richards saw space continue to open up in front of him and took aim, a mazy run ending with a shot that Flavell, back to his best, did well to beat away to ensure the score stayed at one.
