ASHLEY Hemmings bagged consecutive weekend hat-tricks in National League North as the boys thumped Needham Market 4-1.

Hemmo made it a phenomenal ten goals in his last six games to take the lead in the league’s scoring charts courtesy of three more strikes in DY10.

It was a convincing and deserved win for Harriers, but not one that was without the odd scare – Needham Market could and arguably should have taken the lead when a third minute header was skewed narrowly wide by Luke Ingram.

Harriers’ first chance of the day came when a corner, half cleared, found Kam Kandola in the area but his header was hooked off the line and looked mighty close to having gone over, though few were in firm protest.

Great play from Reiss McNally saw him evade multiple Needham men before laying in Hemmings who shot on the angle, goalkeeper Garnham getting a strong hand to it before his defenders could clear.

Hemmings and Harriers were in front on 33 minutes. Ryley Reynolds crossed early and Zak Brown pushed the ball to Hemmings who finished smartly, giving Garnham no chance.

That ensured Harriers had the lead at the break, ten minutes into the second period, Zak Brown controlled a ball well in the area and shot, Garnham holding the effort well.

A minute later sub David Davis, on for the injured Kandola, saw a dipping effort crash over the target, before the second goal arrived three after the hour. Reynolds was pivotal once more, pulling the ball back for Hemmings who took a touch before slamming it beyond Garnham and into his net.

Come the 71st minute it was 3-0, Ryley this time playing in Maz Kouhyar, also in superb form, who slotted away confidently for his fourth goal in as many games.

Harriers welcomed Ben Beresford back from a lengthy injury absence seconds later, but it was Needham who reduced their arrears in by far their best spell of the game, Seth Chambers given too much space to fire into the net from 12 yards.

It wasn’t to matter in the end, though, as Harriers and Hemmings had the last laugh, making it 4-1 with his hat-trick goal as he picked up Dibble’s pass before advancing on goal and firing past Garnham, who got a hand to it but couldn’t stop it from rolling into the net.
