Saturday: Harriers v Sports

A look on to Saturday’s Aggborough clash…

HARRIERS will take their quest to maintain winning National League North form into a challenging test with Peterborough Sports on Saturday.

Sports, co-Managed by Aggborough legend Michael Gash, are enjoying a fine season of it having long since banished any fears they’d be involved in a relegation tussle this season.

In recent weeks for example, their form stands at just two defeats in nine, during which time they’ve thumped Darlington 4-1, won 3-1 at Radcliffe and taken points from play-off chasing Spennymoor and Curzon Ashton.

Currently on 56 points and in 12th place, a place in the play-offs looks a stretch for Saturday’s visitors but, with only a nine-point gap and six left to play, they might yet stake a claim to be the surprise package that enters the fray late.

Harriers won out in the reverse fixture earlier this season, Amari Morgan-Smith netting the only goal in a 1-0 win against his former team mate.

The season prior, however, saw Gash score against Harriers with a dramatic late winner to send the Aggborough side crashing out of the FA Trophy.

Harriers have secured victories in the only other two league meetings in 2022-23.

Going into the weekend, boss Phil Brown spoke highly of Joe Foulkes’ fitness after he participated in a full training session on Thursday.

Brown gave a full update on Joe, as well as the status of Alex Penny, Luke Summerfield and Kam Kandola going into the weekend. Watch the interview below.

Kick-off at Aggborough on Saturday is at 3:00pm
