ON SATURDAY we’re pleased to welcome Harriers legend Jon Purdie to the Aggborough Suite as our special guest for the game against Corby Town.
Purdie will never be an unknown name in these parts thanks to his memorable time as a player – making close to a century of appearances in the 1990s, performing as an instrumental part of the side that won what is now the National League and reached the Fifth Round of the FA Cup in 1994.
Purdie, of course, scored the iconic goal that knocked out Birmingham City as part of that FA Cup run, but has links arguably even stronger to our opposition in the FA Trophy this weekend. ‘Purds’ was born in Corby, schooled there and has lifelong links to the area.
Will the Reds icon be pulling for Harriers, a club close to his heart, in Saturday’s game, or will the pull of his hometown club prove too much? One thing’s for sure, with no replays in the FA Trophy, there will no hoping for a draw!
