A look back at Tuesday night’s clash…

HARRIERS endured a difficult night on the road in going down 2-0 at Marine on a night of few positives for the Reds.
The side fell behind to a fourth minute goal and, despite then controlling much of the first half, never truly tested the Marine goalkeeper enough to claw back level.
Harriers had the first sight of goal on two minutes when a corner reached Joe Foulkes at the far post. He took the ball down neatly and looked to guide it goalwards, but his effort from a narrow angle found the side netting.
Marine had their noses in front just two minutes later, a free kick skimming off a defender and falling for Declan Drysdale to convert to hand the hosts the lead.
Adam Murray’s men had their best chance to level just after the quarter-hour mark. Goalkeeper Fraser Barnsley misjudged a routine ball and spilled it six yards out, prompting a scramble in which Harriers looked certain to tidy up the scraps into an empty net, though covering defenders crowded out Michael Gyasi at the pivotal moment.
There was further encouragement midway through the half when Gyasi combined well with Zanda Siziba, the winger driving into a good position before sending his shot wide.
Christian Dibble was called upon deep into added time at the end of the half, gathering a firm, angled strike from Fin Sinclair-Smith to ensure Harriers went in at the break still in the contest.
Chances were far fewer in a scrappy battle of a second half in which Harriers ultimately came off second best. There was an early sight of goal for Amari Morgan-Smith, set up by Ryley Reynolds, but he shot firmly into the hands of Barnsley.
Marine sub Charlie Jolley almost Emeka Obi for a split-second slip soon after, but the former AFC Fylde man made amends superbly by getting back to block a resultant shot just over the bar.
The hosts wouldn’t be denied their second, though. Hesitation at the back was punished ruthlessly by George Newell who was able to sneak in and slide the ball into the net. Two minutes later, Sinclair-Smith tried his luck once more with an angled effort towards the far corner that Dibble did well to turn over the bar.
Harriers had the odd flash in the Marine area – Kandola flashing one over the bar late on – but for the first time this season the opposition held on to secure a clean sheet.
