HARRIERS bagged their second 4-0 home win in the space of three weeks by demolishing Peterborough Sports at Aggborough.

It was a professional and controlled performance from Adam Murray’s side, who attacked with intent throughout and could easily have added further goals on a night where chances came regularly.

Harriers showed their attacking threat early on. On ten minutes, Kieren Donnelly chased a ball forward with determination and angled in on Peter Crook, but his effort was blocked away.

Two minutes later Harriers were inches from the breakthrough. Donnelly again sparked the move before feeding Ryley Reynolds, whose dipping effort from distance bounced off the top of the crossbar.

The pressure continued to build. On 20 minutes Joe Foulkes looked destined to score, only for Michael Cash to make a crucial block that diverted the goal-bound effort away and forced a corner.

Harriers’ reward arrived three minutes later. David Davis reworked a blocked ball in the area and found Reynolds, who took aim and arrowed a superb strike into the top corner to make it 1-0.

Peterborough threatened occasionally on the break and had a good opportunity on 33 minutes when Max Booth ran onto a ball over the top and drove towards goal, but Christian Dibble reacted well to produce a strong save.

Seb Thompson then tested Crook from a free kick on 40 minutes, the goalkeeper holding firmly as Harriers continued to dictate the play.

Just before the break the hosts doubled their advantage. On 43 minutes Thompson fired a fierce effort inside the area that Crook did well to beat away, but the ball returned to Thompson and he struck again with equal conviction, drilling it into the bottom corner for 2-0.

Harriers carried that momentum into the second half and added a third within two minutes of the restart. Donnelly worked tirelessly to win possession before driving at a tight angle, drawing Crook and calmly tucking his finish beyond the goalkeeper and into the far corner.

The striker remained heavily involved as Harriers pushed forward. On 54 minutes he cut inside and fired an effort just over the bar, while eleven minutes later he again created the opening, teeing up Thompson whose early strike from 18 yards flew over.

A remarkable moment followed on 71 minutes as Harriers threatened again. Reynolds and Owen Evans combined superbly, Evans seeing an effort parried before Donnelly’s follow-up was blocked on the line. Connor Wood then produced another goal-line clearance a couple of seconds later to deny Thompson.

Crook was called into action again four minutes later when Donnelly delivered an excellent cross to the head of Reece Devine, the goalkeeper producing a fine save to tip the effort over the bar.

Harriers did add a fourth shortly afterwards. Emeka Obi controlled the ball well inside the area and, under pressure, showed great composure to pull the ball back across goal where Amari Morgan-Smith arrived to finish from close range.

Even late on the hosts continued to attack. Morgan-Smith turned smartly inside the area on 87 minutes and nudged a shot towards goal, Crook gathering comfortably.

It completed another emphatic night at Aggborough as Harriers secured a deserved four-goal victory.
