Recap: Stratford 0-5 Harriers

HARRIERS eased to a 5-0 victory in their latest pre-season friendly at Stratford Town.

Lewis Walker opened his summer account with a brace, while Max Brogan, Levi Amantchi, Seb Thompson all also found the net.

Harriers were dominant throughout and hit the woodwork as early as the third minute through Player H before Brogan opened the scoring by tapping home Reece Hall’s cross.

It was two just four minutes later, Hall again pivotal as he knocked back a deep ball, across the face of goal where Amantchi was alert to stab home.

Past the halfway point of the half, Devine’s header almost made it 3-0 before Callum Dolan clattered the bar with a dipping, distance effort.

Ahead by two at the break, Harriers made quick work of getting their third on 52 minutes – Walker bravely winning the ball and freeing Thompson who superbly smashed an angled effort into the far corner.

Walker went from provider to scorer on 67 minutes. Stratford simply couldn’t clear their lines as players took aim, the former Braintree man adding the clinical touch to find the net for 4-0.

Thompson’s rising drive needed a good save over the bar on 72 minutes but Harriers had their fifth ten minutes late when Walker’s deft chip sent the ball looping over the goalkeeper.

Harriers Academy goalkeeper Andreas Georgallas played the last ten minutes and was on hand to deny the hosts a goal with what was their best chance close to full time – smothering the danger at close range.

Next up for Harriers in pre-season is the home clash with Alvechurch at Aggborough on Tuesday, 28th July at 7pm.
