Recap: Stourbridge 0-5 Harriers

HARRIERS eased to a 5-0 win at Stourbridge in what was the team’s final pre-season friendly of the summer.

Levi Amantchi took his summer tally for Harriers to four with a brace in the first half, while Callum Dolan, Lewis Walker and Seb Thompson all also netted.

Dolan set the tone early. He took aim from distance and beat the goalkeeper, only for the ball to thump off the woodwork and away.

Harriers were ahead five minutes later in any case – a deep cross met at the far post by Amatchi whose header crashed off the underside of the bar and in.

The striker had two more bites of the cherry either side of the half-hour; firing across goal and wide before forcing the goalkeeper into a smart, low save.

Dom Lewis then struck the bar with a Stourbridge effort, but harriers were 2-0 up on 39 minutes when Dolan found the net, finishing off an Owen Evans cross.

The woodwork was shaking again moments later when the home goalkeeper tipped Thompson’s effort on to the bar, but it 3-0 within seconds when Amantchi tapped home Zak Brown’s cross.

After the interval, Dolan was in the thick of the forward action again when he played in Thompson who struck over, Harriers going on to make it 4-0 shortly after. This time, Walker was the man converting from an almost unguarded net as the Reds caught Stourbridge napping and a squared pass was tidied away.

Devine then went close before a fifth was added on 69 minutes; Thompson on the score sheet from 12 yards after converting a penalty he’d won himself – a driving run into the area ended by a foul.

On 77, Walker almost doubled his tally after being neatly laid in by Brogan, but Stour stopper Price showed a good right hand to it and parried away low.

The hosts hit the woodwork again late on but never truly looked like breaching a Reds back-line that ended pre-season with a fifth clean sheet, a full house for the summer campaign.
