Boss: Standards slipped second half

JOHN EUSTACE admitted his side’s standards dropped at times during the second half of the 1-1 draw at Leamington.

The reds were in a strong position at the break, leading 1-0 thanks to Andre Brown’s goal having dominated much of the first half.

But the second half saw the home side equalise and, while there was hardly a huge haul of chances for either team to have won the game, Leamington did perhaps go closest with Brandon Hall forced into a smart save late on.

Given that late rally, the boss conceded you’d have been left with no choice but to be satisfied with a point for the day’s work.

“It was a tough game but I was delighted with the first-half performance; I thought we played very well,” Eustace said.

“In the second half we dropped our standards a little bit and Leamington put the pressure on -they were excellent.

“The conditions were really tough but I felt we’d played some really good stuff, grew into the game and scored a great goal from Andre.

“I was just disappointed with the second half as we took our foot off the gas a little bit.

“In the end we’re happy with a point because we could have easily lost that with a couple of chances they had.”

Up next for Harriers is Tuesday night’s trip to Chorley in National League North.
