MARK YATES felt his team were rewarded for an “outstanding” first half at FC United on Saturday.
Joe Ironside’s penalty gave the Reds a 1-0 success at Broadhurst Park.
It sealed back-to-back wins and ensured the team at least stay in touch with the play-off pack going into the season’s final few matches.
Reflecting on the victory, Yates commented: “I thought we were outstanding in the first half, and 1-0 flattered them, really.
“We were really good and [I was] really pleased.
“In the second half, we tried to carry on scoring and carry on playing, but you have got to give them credit.
“They’ve got nothing to lose and they’re coming out fighting and made it difficult for us.
“I thought we thoroughly deserved the win and we were backed by a good support today.
“The fans gave the boys a good send off for a positive result.”
