Cook 3, Hull 57

Austin 26, Hemmings 71
HARRIERS were upset in the FA Cup on Saturday as they were beaten 4-2 on penalties after a 2-2 draw with Alvechurch.
The Reds had twice come from behind to draw level in the tie during normal time as Sam Austin and Ashley Hemmings netted, but two misses in the shoot-out proved costly as the the Church snatched bragging rights and that all-important spot in the Third Qualifying Round.
It was never going to be a straightforward affair, but that was evident in the first few minutes as Alvechurch took the lead - Cook gleefully planting the ball beyond Luke Simpson from close range, putting away a dangerous cross from Wakeling.
Omari Sterling went close to putting Harriers level before Austin duly did past the midway point of the half, his smart volley capping off a good move that saw Sterling provide the ammunition.
Harriers virtually dominated the tie from there until after the break, but their failure to find a way in front in that time proved terminal to their FA Cup hopes. Alvechurch were back in front before the hour through a well-taken header from former Harrier Joe Hull.
A pivotal moment then followed when Austin, through on goal, was denied by a good save from Brown - that would arguably have been the platform for Harriers to finish the game comfortably. As sit was, the visitors did haveĀ a second leveller courtesy of Hemmings on 71 minutes as he drilled a great finish into the net, Austin this time the provider.
Both teams then tightened up and a tense last 19 minutes yielded precious little by way of clear-cut chances. With extra time sidestepped in this year's qualifying rounds, it was straight to penalties.
There was, true to the rest of the afternoon, very little to tell between the two teams initially - Prosser and Hemmings both scored while the hosts didĀ likewise, the decisive moment coming when Morgan-Smith saw his effort from 12 yards head over the bar. Alvechurch kept their nerve to take a 3-2 lead before Martin then also struck off target, a Botfield penalty ending the shoot-out at 4-2 to the Church.
