HARRIERS were defeated 4-2 at Scarborough Athletic on Tuesday night.

Kieran Burton bagged the home side an early opener on five minutes. The centre-back getting his head on a long throw to divert into the net.

The away side responded within two minutes to draw level. Ashley Hemmings whipped a teasing ball in which found the head of Ethan Freemantle, the striker expertly glancing past goalkeeper Joe Cracknell.

The home stopper was needed in fine form after 16 minutes to stop a fizzing Shane Byrne effort which, heading for the top corner, was tipped over with a flying save.

Burton grabbed his second on 19 minutes, capitalising on a loose ball in the area after it was again launched in from the right.

Freemantle did his best to get his second of the night on 27 minutes. The striker took the ball down outside the area and blasted on the half volley, Cracknell once again doing well to tip the dipping effort over.

Harriers would get their equaliser on 37 minutes. Gabby Rogers delivering a cross to the head of Tom Leak from the left, the defender’s initial effort being scooped away by Cracknell, but Leak was there to smartly finish his rebound.

Scarborough’s Burton completed his hat trick on 58 minutes to put the home side back ahead. Another ball in from the right met his head, and he was able to find the net.

Just three minutes later, Scarborough extended their lead as an effort from the left stung the fingertips of Palmer, but the ball dropped kindly for Ciaran McGuckin to finish from close range.

Harriers would go on to have efforts through Freemantle and substitute Yusifu Ceesay, but couldn’t find a way to get back into the game.
