A look ahead to Saturday’s game at Aggborough…

HARRIERS and Boston United will replay at Aggborough this coming Tuesday night after drawing 2-2 at York Street.

The reds were in total control after a dominant first half and two goals in the second from Andre Brown and Joe Ironside, but the hosts struck late through Curry and Tshimanga to level things up.

Harriers could have been well ahead at the break. Brown, Ironside, Ngwatala, Croasdale and Weeks all had goo chances to open the scoring.

Ironside and Croasdale were probably the closest - Ironside's 20th-minute, low shot fizzing just wide, with the skipper arrowing a firm drive off target just eight minutes later.

The visitors did find the net after the restart, however. Brown's smart finish from close range after Ironside's header made it 1-0, before Ironside himself netted with a looping header from a corner.

That looked to be it as Harriers controlled the largest part of the tie but, with just 12 minutes to go the home side pulled a goal back as Curry, picking the ball up from a corner, aimed a shot into the top corner.

Barely two minutes later it was 2-2 as Tshimanga turned the ball home from close range - though through Sonupe, Harriers did have an even later chance to score only for goalkeeper Willis to hold his shot.

HARRIERS enter the Buildbase FA Trophy on Saturday with a trip to National League North rivals Boston United.

The reds will be hoping to continue their reasonable league form in this weekend’s contest while also starting another promising run in a cup competition.

As well as making the First Round proper of the FA Cup for the last couple of seasons, John Eustace’s men made the Third Round of the Trophy last time around.

Any road back to that stage begins at Boston, where Harriers will meet the Pilgrims for the second time this season following the 1-1 league draw between the two teams at Aggborough in early September.

Skipper Ryan Croasdale has been speaking ahead of the game as one of a few players starting to find form in the side.

The midfield man has been performing well and adding goals to his game – with three strikes in his last two matches.

It’s form he gladly welcomes as he settles into a rhythm both personally and where the whole team is concerned.

“I had a few problems at the start of the season but hopefully they’re in the past,” reflected Croasdale.

“I’m showing my work for the team as well as my individual play well.

“With Declan coming into the team and Macca, the rotation is working really well and I am happy to be getting on the score sheet.”

“We’re away from home on Saturday as well and Boston have had a new manager in recently so all of their players will be keen to impress.”   Ryan Croasdale

For the final time on Saturday, Harriers will be without Tyrone Williams this weekend as he sits out the last of a three-game suspension.

Also missing is Dan Bradley after he underwent surgery.

Lee Vaughan is tantalisingly close to a return while Joel Taylor (groin) will also be keen to get back to action soon after missing the team’s last couple of matches.

New goalkeeper Dale Eve – signed on Friday – goes into the squad.

Harriers may not have the type of squad numbers to have the luxury of resting players on what is a break from league action.

But in any event, Croasdale echoes the sentiments of his manager in saying that the team will be going all-out for the win, no matter what the circumstances or the competition.

He went on to say: “We’ll play a strong team and we want to get as far as we can in the competition.

“Like the FA Cup – getting to the First Round was a big achievement and we want to progress in this as well.

“There are a lot of games coming thick and fast now Christmas is coming and we’re piling them in together, so whether it’s a Cup game or a league game, we’ll go with our A-game to get the win.

“We’re away from home on Saturday as well and Boston have had a new manager in recently so all of their players will be keen to impress.”

Kick-off at Boston United on Staurday is at 3:00pm.
