Harriers were narrowly beaten 1-0 by Premier League side Burnley in their latest pre-season friendly.
The Clarets brought, as promised, a strong squad to Aggborough and the two teams contested an even first half, divided only by Robbie Brady’s cool free kick eleven minutes before the break.
It’s safe to say that there were not a wealth of chances at either end – the home side going closest as Dan Nti had a couple of sniffs of Nick Pope’s target; Liam Truslove then forcing the keeper into a routine save after the visitors had gone ahead.
Minutes before the interval Jeff Hendrick should probably have doubled their lead from close range only to find himself denied by Harriers goalkeeper Brandon Hall who kept out his low effort, having already stretched himself early in the half to tip over another long-range effort from Brady.
Manny Sonupe struck the post for the hosts six minutes into the second period with a low shot that had Pope well beaten, while up at the other end, Ashley Barnes should have done better with a first-time shot that struck just wide.
Joe Ironside for Harriers and Barnes for Burnley both had the ball in the net as the second half wore on, both strikers denied by the offside lag with decisions that looked about right.
Even later, inside the last ten minutes, Matty Lowton struck the underside of the bar from a highly improbable angle as Burnley continued to press, a trialist getting in a good header for Harriers only see the goalkeeper produce a good save.

AGGBOROUGH hosts its first and only Saturday pre-season match this weekend when Premier League side Burnley come to town.
While Harriers are in the middle of a packed and varied pre-season, this is the only home contest to fall on a Saturday afternoon as Sean Dyche sends a Clarets side to face a reds outfit managed by his former Watford colleague, Harriers chief John Eustace.
For the home side this game comes after a handsome win over Stourport last weekend and before another big home tie against Birmingham City on Wednesday (26th).
The Clarets, however, are only now kicking off their programme of games – with Preston North End, Nottingham Forest, Celta Vigo and Hannover all coming up after their weekend trek to Aggborough.
Burnley have been tight-lipped on their team selection, save for a warning that the side on show will be strong.
Harriers will hope to welcome Dan Nti back into the fold after the former FC Halifax man had been forced to miss the last couple of weeks’ training with injury.
Otherwise, with the exception of Lee Vaughan, it’s a fit and strong Harriers squad, bolstered by a handful of trialist, who’ll meet the challenge of the side who last term finished 16th in the Premier League.
Kick off at Aggborough Stadium on Saturday is at 3:00pm.
Fans are reminded that admission is pay on the turnstiles at £10 adults, £5 concessions and £1 U16S.
