HARRIERS bagged four second-half goals to sweep Curzon Ashton away and pick up a much-needed 5-0 win at Aggborough.
After a tricky last few weeks, the victory brought with it a sense of relief around Aggborough as the lads found their shooting boots in style.
Without having the entire game their own way – Luke Simpson made key saves at key times – the side did dominate for the largest part of the afternoon and were well worth the three points.
The better of the early chances were for Harriers. Inside a quarter hour, Sterling had hit a low effort that the goalkeeper saved well, and Carrington had headed wide from a corner.
After the midfielder had then gone close with a half-volley, it was back with Sterling for the opening goal as his teasing corner was inadvertently headed backwards by Lussey – Lewis Richards clearly behind the line as he attempted to clear.

Three before the interval, Peers had a key sight of goal for Curzon and fired at Simpson, only for Penny’s block to help the effort head off target. From the resultant corner, Poscha’s header was saved excellently by Simpson.
Two minutes after the restart Lowe was on hand to power a header at goal that rose over the bar, but it was an effort that set the tone for the half. It was just seven minutes old when Curzon stopper Renshaw flapped an Austin shot into the path of Hemmings who fired the follow-up wide.
On the hour it was 2-0. Morgan-Smith did the honours with a powerful header from just a couple of yards as he rose excellently to put away a Hemmings corner. Eight minutes later he almost added another goal, only for Renshaw to make a good low stop. He wasn’t denied his brace for long, though; 70 minutes on the clock when the same two combined, the striker’s header taking his tally to the season to 14.

With nine minutes left to play, Sterling struck an unnervingly powerful free kick on to the bar from 25 yards that looked destined to find the net, only for Harriers to bag a fourth goal shortly afterwards after Keziah Martin robbed the ball from a visiting shirt and angled home his first professional goal.
Peers, in the final seconds of normal time, drew an outstanding stop from Simpson at close range to ensure Harriers kept a clean sheet – before the hosts extended their lead further. Austin broke and played in Freemantle who was thwarted by Renshaw – the former leaving the shot-stopper helpless as he gleefully slammed home the loose ball.
