In their third first-team friendly, a young Harriers side were victorious in a tough test against Stourport Swifts.

Darragh Lowth grabbed the only goal of a tight game at Walshes Meadow, breaking the deadlock 14 minutes from time.

Harriers - whose side comprised of numerous current and former Academy players - started brightly and had shouts for a penalty waved away after six minutes, 16 year-old James Dutton going to ground under a challenge.

Left-back Dutton was involved again four minutes later, slipping a neat ball through for Richard Peniket - who played for 45 minutes, his first appearance of the new campaign - but his shot was dragged wide.

On 25 minutes, the home side came close - crashing the woodwork - as a 20 yard free kick from Martin Slevin slammed against the woodwork and away.

Nick MacPherson had the only other chance of the half of note, diverting just wide on the half volley.

Eight minutes into the second half, Ed McCarthy would sting the fingertips of Stourport 'keeper Ryan Smith, before MacPherson would break past multiple challenges at the other end - five minutes later - but Palmer was on hand to pull off a smart low save to deny him.

Harriers began to gain more control on the game as it progressed, and were rewarded with the only goal of the game on 76 minutes - substitute Shane Lowth's free kick was parried by Smith, Taylor-Randle's follow up was saved, but Lowth's younger brother Darragh was there to mop up and finish from close range.

Dutton and Taylor-Randle both had chances in the final 14 to extend the lead, but those efforts would go wide of the target.

The match, which ended at 1-0, saw a determined and solid performance from current and former Harriers Academy players - a total of 13 players falling into that bracket playing their part on the night.
