New man Liam Daly says he’s looking forward to the ugly side of the battle to lead Harriers to success this season after joining on a two-year deal.

Defender Daly signed for Harriers on Friday after four seasons with Solihull Moors – winning this division with then just over a year ago.

But the dominant 6ft 6 powerhouse has decided to move to Aggborough to help the team push forward.

He explained to our YouTube channel that he isn’t afraid to get down and dirty to make that happen, either.

“From what I’m hearing we could have done with a few more experienced lads who, on the pitch, have got a voice,” he said.

“I played three or four seasons for Leamington and we were going to worse places [than we will in this league].

“That’s my game.

“I’d say when the winter does come and it’s’ the cold and muddy and wet days, I come into my game.

“Those are my kind of conditions and I’ve got no problems with that.”

“…it is a new chapter for me and I am looking forward to moving forward with this football club.” Liam Daly

Daly admits it was a tough call to leave Solihull having played so much football there.

But the lure of being able to work full time with John Eustace, Matt Gardiner and their staff seems to have been too big a pull to resist.

He says it was something of a now-or-never decision to move into the full-time level – doing so at 29, a great age for a player in his position.

He went on to add: “In all honesty, I had agreed with Solihull for the season [so] I’m leaving a club that I think a lot of.

“I have had some great years there and I wish them well all the best.

“But it is a new chapter for me and I am looking forward to moving forward with this football club.

“The big factor for me is the full-time part of it – I’m only 29 and having a couple of years full-time can only make me better.

“I think I deserve a chance to go and have a go at it.”
