JOHN EUSTACE urged his side to show a little more bravery following the first home pre-season game against Derby County last night.
The Rams were 4-0 winners on the night as an impressively-strong Rams side came and took Harriers to task.
The gaffer was pleased with a number of aspects of the work-out where his side were concerned, but felt the side could have been a little more expressive before the break.
“I felt we could have been braver and believed in ourselves a bit more in the first half,” he said.
“We are missing a lot of players from last season so it is about getting to know each other…” John Eustace
“They’re playing against top, top players but I expected us to do a bit better – though you can’t take anything away from Derby; they’re a class team and it is a fantastic learning experience for the boys.
“That’s where this group want to be and, at the end of the day, it’s all about getting fit and we need a good six weeks of fitness work.
“We’re getting used to playing as a team again.
“We are missing a lot of players from last season so it is about getting to know each other and, as I say, about getting fit.”
Eustace expects a similarly challenging game tonight (Wednesday) at Aggborough when Harriers host Aston Villa.
“It will be just as tough,” he added.
“It’s a great experience for the boys and the lads are looking forward to it.”
