U18s: Harriers ease past Malvern

Good start to MFYL season continues…

Harriers U18s continued their fine start to the new season with a 4-2 win over Malvern Town on Wednesday night.

The reds, who have a 100% record so far, were 2-0 ahead at the break thanks to goals from Josh Barnes and Casey Collins.

The hosts, who had earlier missed a penalty, pulled a goal back after the restart to make it 2-1.

Full-back Byron Lye then found himself up field on a strong run and combined well with Barnes before finishing strongly to restore his team’s two-goal advantage.

Brendan Evans, on as a sub, slotted home a cool finish when one-on-one with the goalkeeper to put the game beyond doubt, though the hosts did manage a second of their own before the close.

It was another strong night for a very young U18s side, just five of the match squad being over the age of 16.

Next up for the team is a Cup clash against Dudley Town away from home on Monday, 25th September.

Meanwhile, our National League U19 Alliance team endured a tough start to their new season as they were beaten 6-1 at Solihull Moors.
