We look back at past Trophy tangles between Harriers and York…

With such sound records in the competition, it’s no real surprise that the FA Trophy has, in the past, thrown up meetings between Harriers and Saturday’s visitors to Aggborough, York City.
The first of those meetings came nine years ago. After Martin Brittan’s goal had helped Harriers earn a replay with a 1-1 draw at Aggborough, the action moved up to York on a freezing cold night. It was, just as well, a night not lacking in action and talking points. In front of 683 chilly supporters, the two teams played out another 1-1 draw. This time it would mean penalties – and the resultant shoot-out seemed to go on and on; so much so that both teams had to start again after every member of their teams had taken a kick!
In the end, the miss or save that would have to come, came courtesy of a Justin Richards spot-kick that was saved, York claiming the win 13-12!
The two would be paired once again in this competition just twelve months ago, albeit at the First Round stage. The game took place at Aggborough and goals from Emmanuel Sonupé and James Pearson were just about enough to send Harriers through with a 2-1 victory.
