Harriers exited the FA Trophy with a 1-0 defeat to Stamford at the Zeeco Stadium on Tuesday night.

Frustratingly, the men from Aggborough just never got going against their Northern Premier League South/East opposition, but even that is a disservice to the hosts who deserved their result and place in Round Four.

Stamford created just couple of chances of note on the night, but that was in the end all they needed – scoring with the first of them on 18 minutes as Morgan nudged home a well-taken corner.

Harriers for their part created very little that was seriously threatening – one first half chance coming through Luke Maxwell as he saw a shot saved at close range from a corner.

It was a night that never really gained any fluidity or momentum for either side, with Harriers struggling to get to grips with a stop-start affair – losing Sam Austin to injury in the first half while the second half saw stopper Luke Steele withdrawn for the Daniels.

In the second period, Morgan was left unmarked at the far post to meet another header early on, his effort landing on the roof of the net as Stamford quickly looked for a second.

Morgan-Smith got in behind as the half wore on but on but saw a shock blocked up and over, before Moyo nodded a downward header over the bar and Hemmings forced sub goalkeeper Peverell into a low hold.

In the end, Stamford managed to see out the narrow win without conceding a huge amount of clear-cut chances and deserved the celebrations that greeted the full-time whistle.
