HARRIERS got back to winning ways in ideal style with a comprehensive 3-0 win over York City at Aggborough.
Harriers in truth controlled the game for almost its entirety, leading at the break through a goal from Morgan-Smith and an outrageous free-kick from Omari Sterling. Sam Austin then added to the score after the restart.
In the first ten minutes there was actually a big chance at either end – after Penny had crashed one header over the bae for Harriers, Longdon angled a shot across Luke Simpson’s target as the Minstermen went close.
As it was, that was as close as the Harriers goal came to being breached, and it was they who had the lead on 19 minutes when Bajrami’s ball set Morgan-Smith away. The striker beat keeper Jameson to it and took his time before finishing low into the far corner.
Morgan-Smith might’ve had a second but for turning a further shot off target from close range, before Sterling’s truly incredible free kick doubled the scores on 42 – an effort that looped high before dipping low, bamboozling Jameson who could do nothing but watch.
Sterling could’ve had two for the day, but Jameson met his swirling, swerving 56th drive with a solid save.
With 15 left of mormal time, a fairly tepid second period by comparison got its only goal with one of its few chances – Hemmings with a lofted pass into the path of Austin who tucked it home to the delight of the home fans.
It was a solid, all around performance from Harriers that got what it deserved ahead of Tuesday night’s tricky looking trek to Kettering Town.
