A look to Saturday’s home meeting with Guiseley….

HARRIERS’ quest to find some momentum going into the play-offs continues this weekend as the Reds host Guiseley at Aggborough.

Russ Penn’s men have been in pretty good fettle on home soil lately but have been shut out away from home in their quest for regular points.

Now there are just three games left of the regular season before the play-offs kick in, meaning time is tight for Russ Penn’s men to find the extra bounce that’ll come in handy for the end-of-season lottery.

Getting anything at the expense of Guiseley will, of course, be far easier said than done. The Lions are fighting for their lives, currently rooted to the bottom of the National League North table.

The scrap to avoid the drop is every bit as tense as the battle to see who makes the final play-off positions, with a few teams fighting it out at the wrong end.

Guiseley will have Telford, one place and two points ahead of them, very much in their sights this weekend, knowing that the right result at Aggborough could see them leapfrog the Bucks and take a stride towards safety.

That might just ensure there’s more to Saturday than a scrappy, cagey affair with both sides needing to be on the front foot to get something out of the game.

Russ Penn told our YouTube channel: “These are tough games because they have got to throw caution to the wind a little bit now.

“They have to win games of football, they have to score goals, which makes it a very entertaining game in my eyes.

“We’ve got to be disciplined and organised enough to deal with their threats, but also enjoy us going forward as we have a great home record this season.

“We’ve scored lots of goals and we want to continue that form.

“We’re going to have to weather storms still, because they need the points more than anybody, but we’ll set up to win the game and that’s what we’ll try and do.”

Guiseley had looked to be set for a solid season after very strong start to the autumn and a run of one defeat in seven matches but have struggled for consistent results since.

They made the call to change their management team a few weeks ago and, with Steve Kittrick in charge, have shown they’re very much in the mix and have a strong chance of pulling out of trouble.

Their recent form – aside from a heavy defeat at Gateshead – is pretty good; that was their only defeat in four, and they come to Aggborough on the back of consecutive draws against Bradford (Park Avenue) and Curzon Ashton.

Harriers will hope to be able to call upon a fully fit squad, aside from Cliff Moyo who is set for a further scan on his achilles injury.

Luke Simpson, who is suspended, missed out.

On Saturday, you can get your copy of The Harrier – issue 26 featuring a special look at Keith Lowe’s tremendous career following the news he’ll leave Harriers at the end of the season.

You can also pre-order a copy for postage now.

Harriers and Guiseley fans are reminded that there is no longer the facility to pay cash at the turnstiles at Aggborough.

You can still pay in person on the day of the game at the Ticket Office (including in cash), but this incurs a £2 increase on our standard match day prices, so your best bet is to purchase in advance of the day if you can – as this will also potentially save you some queueing!

You can do so online via our ticketing platform or, if you need assistance, by calling 01562 823 931 during opening hours.

Again, it is still possible to buy your tickets at the Ticket Office (up to 15 minutes after kick-off), but you can’t pay cash at the turnstile.

The Main Stand at Aggborough is open as normal to home fans on Saturday.

Kick-off is at 3:00pm.
