Harriers have bagged themselves another key summer signing with the addition of experienced midfielder Shane Byrne.
The 29-year-old joins after leaving Boston United, where he played 52 matches last season – not least a play-off win at Aggborough – and was named in the National League North Team of the Season.
Byrne knows all about driving a team into the promotion places in this division. As a consistent and reliable performer, he has been involved in the end-of-season play-offs on four consecutive occasions, making the final twice.
The former Brackley and Nuneaton player, with almost 400 career appearances under his belt so far, had plenty of options after leaving the Pilgrims last month, but jumped at the chance to sign for Harriers.
“The main reason was the gaffer,” Byrne explained to our YouTube channel.
“I know him and Jimmy have tried to get me in here a couple of times… after speaking to him and seeing where he wants to take the club, his views on football are very similar to [mine].
“I’ve had some really good days here as an opposition player so I’m excited to use the crowd to our advantage!”
Subject to FA and National League confirmation, Byrne joins on a one-year deal ahead of the new campaign.
