Youngster’s progress hailed by Russ Penn…

KAI Lissimore has been urged to keep up his progress following a strong pre-season campaign so far.

The teenager, who penned professional terms with Harriers after rising through the Academy, has banked plenty of minutes in pre-season friendlies so far.

His work-rate and fitness has impressed plenty, too, as he bids to take the next steps at this formative stage of his career.

Boss Russ Penn knows the 19-year-old is eager to keep showing what he can do, and has called on him to keep challenging himself and others.

After watching Lissimore feature in Tuesday’s friendly with Manchester United, Penn said: “I think last year he was the young lad developing in the first team, but this year he’s part of the first team squad.

“It is up to him now to be knocking the door down to be in the squads, and the next step after that is trying to get in the team.

“I’ve proved here while I’ve been the Manager that I’ll give anyone a chance if they’re good enough, I don’t care about age.

“So far, he looks fit and strong so fair play to him.”

A young Harriers XI will continue pre-season at Sporting Khalsa on Thursday night before the first team sign off for the summer at Halesowen on Saturday.

The following weekend sees the Reds begin their league campaign at Blyth Spartans, with away travel already selling fast – make your booking now.
