A look to Saturday’s trip to Kettering Town in National League North…

HARRIERS head into a run of testing away ties starting with the trip to Kettering Town in National League North on Saturday.

The team edged into the next round of the Emirates FA Cup with a win at Aggborough last weekend against Tamworth, but now hit the road.

They’ll journey to Latimer Park to meet the Poppies first, before heading to Buxton in midweek, and the FA Cup clash at National League South side Cheshunt after that.

Russ Penn knows that’s a tricky-looking trio of tests but is relishing first of all the trip to Kettering where he hopes the Harriers faithful will be on hand to provide their usual excellent backing.

The hosts are also looking to capitalise on an excellent FA Cup result of their own last weekend on what a is a return home for them after four successive away matches.

Penn explained: “It’s three tough games and Kettering first, and we know what that place is like and have actually got a good record there.

“We’ll look forward to going there Saturday, followed by Buxton away on Tuesday and then the FA Cup next Saturday.

“It’s a tough week, but everyone has got the same, haven’t they? So no excuses.

“I expect Kettering to try and back up their victory on Saturday in the FA Cup. I know the Manager, how he wants to play and the players he’s brought in, so it will be a tough game.

“But we’ll take a couple of hundred there – it’s a localish game and hopefully we can give them something to shout about.”

Harriers will be without Tom Owen-Evans on Saturday as the club await scan results on his injury, while Nathan Lowe (knee) will be checked after missing out last weekend.

There is at least better news elsewhere, with Penn confirming that Joe Foulkes and Jack Bearne had come through training sessions this week.

Foulkes had picked up a knock near the end of the Tamworth win, while Bearne suffered an injury before what would have been a debut at the eventually-postponed game at Scarborough.

“The kid is so sharp and he’s desperate to play,” said Penn of the Liverpool loanee.

“He’s been at the club a month now and he absolutely loves it.

“I think we’re going to see some really exciting performances from Jack this season – we just need to get him up to speed now.”

Kick-off at Kettering on Saturday is at 3:00pm.
