HARRIERS were held by title-chasing King’s Lynn Town in an entertaining 1-1 draw at Aggborough.
Ashley Hemmings gave the hosts a tenth minute lead before Lynn replied soon after from the penalty spot.
Both sides had chances to win it, with Amari Morgan-Smith seeing a 94th minute effort cleared off the line.
It was, all told, one of the most entertaining league games at Aggborough all season, and Harriers were in front early on, ending their long run without a goal after Hemmimgs pounced on a loose ball in the area to fire into the net.
That brought with it an air of relief around Aggborough, but the promotion hopefuls weren’t behind for long – just eight minutes – before getting back on level terms from the penalty spot. Joe Foulkes was adjudged to have fouled his man and Gold Omotayo made no mistake from the spot.
A good footballing move presented King’s Lynn with a good chance on 28 when Hughes saw an effort deflected behind, before Christian Dibble held an Omotayo header from the resultant corner.
Blair between the sticks at the other end denied Hemmings past the half-hour, with Lissimore going close to an outrageous first senior goal for the club when his dipping effort dropped just shy of the far corner of the goal frame.
A good save from Dibble, coupled with a block on the line, denied Lynn’s Widdrington early in the second half, before Foulkes almost had Harriers in front on 57 minutes, only to miskick his effort slightly and send it over.
Shane Byrne’s 62nd minute free kick gifted Hemmigs with the perfect chance for his second, but the talisman planted the attempt over the bar.
Chances became fewer as the half wore on but Nat Knight-Percival had an 76th minute opportunity, firing a firm header over the target from eight yards at a corner.
Just as the tie looked destined for a draw, Harriers had a golden chance to snatch all three points when Morgan-Smith was threaded through in the area, drawing Blair and firing past him. Out of nowhere a covering defender got back to clear the effort off the line and back into the grateful gloves of the goalkeeper.
