FRESH from signing a new Harriers deal, midfielder Lissimore has recalled his dramatic first start of the season at Hereford.
Back on Boxing Day, Lissimore was very much part of the Harriers squad having recently bolstered his game time with a loan spell at Bromsgrove Sporting.
An impressive cameo in the FA Trophy penalty shoot-out win at AFC Fylde had given boss Russ Penn food for thought before a little chaos broke out come Christmas.
With just minutes to go teams were due to be handed in for the festive Boxing Day fixture at Edgar Street, Penn was notified that Shane Byrne and Joe Leesley were stuck in serious traffic.
With an urgent need to shuffle the pack, the boss turned to Lissimore, who’d only previously started one match for Harriers.
The missing duo made a mad dash for it and arrived it in time for kick off and to take their place on the bench, with Lissimore going on to play a starring role in the 1-0 now.
Had he seen it coming? He told our YouTube channel: “I hadn’t, but I prepared as though I had!
“When I got told the message by the gaffer that I was starting, I thought ‘there’s no better time.’
“I was high on confidence coming back from Bromsgrove where I’d had a lot of game time, so I thought ‘let’s go!’
“I don’t think it made too much difference – I still prepared the same and when I went out on to the pitch, I was just full on confidence and as ready as ever.
“It was definitely a good game to be thrown into the deep end into, but the atmosphere and the lads around me just spurred me on to play well.”
Lissimore’s new contact will ensure he remains a Harriers player until 2024.

Typically unfazed, he was pleased with the news but is remaining focused.
“I’m just delighted to be here for another year,” he added:
“As a player and as a person, I think I have improved. To be here for another season to kick on even more, I can’t wait.
“This season isn’t over yet. We’ve got eight more games now and we’re going to look for maximum points.
“Personally, I just want to keep playing, getting minutes and appearances and take that into next season.”
