LIVERPOOL U21s were 1-0 winners at Aggborough on Friday night as a youthful Anfield outfit handed a narrow defeat to Harriers.
Christian Dibble was the busier of the two goalkeepers early on, forced into a good, low save with nine minutes on the clock as Liverpool played their way into the area.
Matt Preston, fresh from signing a return to the club earlier on Friday, nodded a chance over the bar on 23 minutes before repeating the trick seven minutes later.
With two left to go until the break, only a fine Liverpool save kept Harriers at bay – Gerry McDonagh stayed composed on the ball in the area to get out a low shot, thwarted by the visiting custodian Jakob Ojrzynski.
Four after the interval Knight-Percival went within a whisker of nudging home a ball across the six yard box, before an offside flag chalked off an Ashley Hemmings attempt and Jack Lambert skewed wide.
Against the run of play, though, it was the youngsters from Anfield who took the lead with a composed finish from Jayden Danns past Dibble with 56 minutes on the clock.
Sub Kieran Phillips, past the hour, forced a fairly erratic stop from Ojrzynski as he drove from distance, before good defending at the other end saw Christian Oxlade-Chamberlain clear a Liverpool chance off his line.
Ojrzynski was at it again with three left to go as Player A let fly from rage, the effort needing a fine, diving save to claw it away from the top corner.
Pre-season continues for Russ Penn’s men on Tuesday night with the visit of League 1 newcomers Northampton Town -7pm ko.
