HARRIERS were held to a frustrating 0-0 draw by Bromley at Aggborough on an afternoon that saw both sides finish with ten men.
Harriers dominated the affair from start to finish but lack a crucial finishing touch against a visiting side that failed to register a single chance of note all afternoon.
The home side’s chances started flowing as early as the second minute, Amari Morgan-Smith’s header going over the bar.
Smith between the sticks for Bromley was forced into a string of good saves on the day, the first of those coming on 15 minutes as he held on to a Jack Lambert effort.
With 21 on the clock the visitors were reduced in number as Cole Kpekawa was given his marching orders for appearing to raise his hands to Amari Morgan-Smith above the shoulder.
Minutes after, Smith’s best spell of the game saw him produce three great saves in the space of around 20 seconds. A low, angled drive from Lambert was kept out down low, before the follow-up effort from Kieran Phillips was kept out by an outstretched foot. Harriers re-worked the ball and Phillips got in a looping header, but Smith was there once again to tip the ball over the bar.
Six before the break a clearance close to the goal line kept out a drive from Phillips and, just after, Smith parried from Lambert once more.
Harriers introduced Barry Maguire at half time for his Harriers debut, the next chance of the day coming from the boot of Lambert as his driven free kick was beaten away by a pair of hands from Smith.
Oxlade-Chamberlain and Maguire then hit off target, before Harriers were themselves a man light after Lambert picked up a second yellow card for what the referee perceived as simulation.
Still, though, the chances kept coming. Caleb Richards blazed an effort wide of the target inside the last ten minutes before sub Gerry McDonagh’s effort was well blocked at close range. Phillips was then back in the act when he diverted a Hemmings cross over the bar with a deft touch.
As the game entered injury time, Michael Cheek had the only sight of the day for Bromley as a half chance saw his shot on the turn deflected wide.
The only thing that hadn’t denied Harriers on the day was the woodwork – that duly changed three minutes into added time when Hemmings took McDonagh’s set-up and fired a shot off the foot of the far post with Smith beaten.
